Gear 1 comes with a mechanical adjuster that lets you change the length of your bands. You can use shorter bands for a greater challenge or longer bands for a full range of motion.
-
Sometimes the adjuster will slip during your workout. This will happen if the band is pulled more than 2.5 times the starting length. It’s meant to prevent your Gear 1 band from tearing or snapping.
-
Most resistance bands will just break if you pull them too far. The adjuster on Gear 1 prevents this from happening by slipping and lengthening the band.
-
You have three options for increasing tension without putting your bands at risk of snapping:
-
Use two bands in the same hand or body anchor for a single exercise.
-
Perform slower reps to increase your time under tension (“TUT”) which causes “hypertrophy,” the small muscle tears required for gaining strength.
-
Pull the bands to the point just before the adjuster starts to slide.
